The total number of full- and part-time jobs within the County.
Why it matters
Growing job counts in the region indicate that Racine County-area businesses are hiring and that the region's economy is growing.
There are currently an estimated 76,907 jobs in the region. This total is less than the region's pre-recession jobs peak of 79,005 in 2007; however, initial data suggest that 2014 will be the fourth consecutive year of total job growth in Racine County.
Racine County job growth is concentrated in healthcare and social assistance, accommodation and food services, transportation and warehousing, administrative support and waste management and remediation services, and finance and insurance industries.
This indicator contains national, statewide, and Area Around Racine County as benchmark to place Racine County's performance in context. The Area Around Racine County is defined as Kenosha, Milwaukee, Walworth, and Waukesha counties.
